Villa Sa’ada – Marassi

Supplied and laid the mosaic flooring throughout this Mediterranean-Moorish summer house in Marassi, developing a single black-and-white pattern that runs continuously from the outdoor courtyard through the interior living spaces, tying the home’s indoor and outdoor rooms together in one material language.

The pattern is a quatrefoil/floral motif in black and white mosaic tesserae, bordered by a fine black-and-white pinstripe band. Its scale and border are held constant across every application, so the floor reads as one continuous carpet whether it’s underfoot on an open terrace or inside a furnished room. In the courtyard, it borders a sunken reflecting pool at the heart of the brick-and-stucco space, home to koi, used both as coping around the pool’s edge and as the surrounding deck pattern, bringing the geometry right up to the water.

Inside, the same flooring continues through the dining pavilion and living areas, unifying spaces that open onto the garden through arched, iron-latticed Moorish windows and doors, and climbs into the stair risers, carrying the pattern vertically through the house. Throughout, the work is hand-set mosaic, laid for durability and continuous wear across both exterior and interior use, a single flooring language expressed at every threshold of the house.
