St. Anthony Church

Gdariat clad the sanctuary of St. Anthony Church in hand-set mosaic on a gold tessera ground, building one continuous iconographic program across the main church, the lower church, and a ceiling medallion, supported by additional mosaic and stained glass pieces throughout the building. Also, you can find the four Evangelist Mathew, Mark, Luke and John recur at the dome’s four corners, extending the apse’s theology into the architecture overhead.

Christ Pantocrator is enthroned at the center, holding a jeweled scepter and the orb of the world, robed in white and red. Seraphim and angels fill the arch above him. Around him stand the four Evangelist symbols each bearing the Gospel book, grounded in a band of water at the base. A separate gold tondo shows Christ carrying a lamb, flanked by Α and Ω and four angels at its corners, a quieter, more pastoral counterpart to the apse’s majesty scene.

Further mosaic and stained glass works are placed throughout the church, carrying the same gold, red, blue and white palette.
